Siding Estimate Prep

How much siding will I need?

Square footage is only part of the answer. A good siding estimate also accounts for gables, trim, windows, waste, repairs, and weather details that protect the home.

A homeowner measurement is a starting point, not the final order.

To rough out siding, measure each wall width by height, then add gables separately. For gables, multiply width by height and divide by two. Large windows and doors may reduce the area, but cuts, overlaps, layout, and waste bring material back into the estimate.

What changes the final quantity

  • Gables, dormers, bump-outs, and tight wall sections.
  • Window trim, corner boards, belly bands, fascia transitions, and blocks.
  • Damaged sheathing, dry rot, old flashing, and areas that need rebuild work.
  • Material choice, including lap siding, shingles, board and batten, and panel layouts.

For homes around Seattle, Tacoma, and Puyallup, moisture management matters as much as the square footage. Breeze Siding looks at the wall assembly, house wrap, trim details, and flashing so the estimate reflects the real scope.

Best next step: send photos of each side of the home, then confirm the details during an onsite estimate.
